Isle of Purbeck

This Isle is in fact a peninsula and the name refers to the shape of the peninsula which is the shape of a Bittern’s beak. It covers a wide area within the county of Dorset. Within this area there is a castle, the romantic ruins of Corfe Castle, a nature reserve at Durlston Country Park, beaches at Studland, the cove at Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, and the seaside resorts of Swanage. If you wish to return to a previous, slower age, then the heritage railway line at Swanage is for you. Take a gentle, rolling ride through the Purbecks and view the ruins of Corfe Castle high at the top of the ridge.
