About Salisbury's Chequered History Guides

Hello, my name is Lorna and I am a qualified Blue Badge Guide. I live in Salisbury where I was born and I guide in Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and West Sussex.

I have had the good fortune to live in Austria, Egypt and Chile and have travelled extensively. It is now my turn to show visitors this part of England, this area called Wessex and what we have to offer. From the towering heights of Salisbury Cathedral, to the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Jurassic Coast, from the standing stones of Stonehenge to the ancient New Forest, from the crumbling castle of Corfe to the stately homes of Wilton House, Beaulieu Palace House, Blenheim and Athelhampton House and Gardens, we have a rich diversity within a small area.

Steve qualified as a qualified Blue Badge Guide in 2017.


Following a career in Dairy Farming and Business the time had come to seriously indulge a lifelong passion for History. Beginning his Blue Badge Course in 2012 Steve was suddenly faced with a truth of the old adage “you never know what’s around the corner” when he was suddenly hit with a life threatening attack of septicaemia, hospitalised for three months and luckily only losing his right leg in the process. 



Back up on two legs again, Steve is qualified to guide across central southern England and especially in and around his home City of Salisbury, with Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, the New Forest, and Dorset.

A member of “Tourism is for Everybody” Steve has an understanding and empathy with the types of challenges faced by those with mobility or ability issues when visiting key visitor attractions and can use his experience and knowledge to help make your visit enjoyable, pleasant and informative.
