Abbotsbury

The village of Abbotsbury is distinct and picturesque. It is an attractive village with a faint air of formality. It has raised pavements and a continuous row of stone cottages. Just past the village there are two sites of interest. One is the sub-tropical garden. This garden covers 8 hectares. A comfortable walk around uncovers an exotic garden with rare species of flora set out in a formal, a walled and woodland settings. From one high point one can see all of Chesil Beach and most particularly the end section that is home to the only colony of nesting mute swans open to the public in the whole world. There are over six hundred swans that nest at the end of Chesil Beach. They are wild and not fenced in and fed twice a day by the swanherd. If you you wish to help with hand feeding the hundreds of swans, feeding times are 12 and 4pm daily. Let us take you to Abbotsbury. It has much to offer.
