Old Sarum

Historically important, Old Sarum stands as an image that truly inspired great artists. It still has an air of those monarchs that visited it, those men that were invited to attend some special ceremony and those ancient buildings that no longer stand but their walls and foundations are laid out in stone. It has layers of history and much can be gleaned from walking around it and then entering the middle where the keep and the inner bailey of the Norman Castle can still be experienced. It looks over the city and over the fields. It stands above all and views the new City Cathedral from it’s desolate heights. An atmospheric place that is well worth a visit.
