Oxford
Matthew Arnold dubbed Oxford as the “City of Dreaming Spires” based on the architecture of the world famous University buildings. There is so much to see in this wonderful city. Roger Bannister, a 25 year old medical student, was the first man to run a mile in less than four minutes, here, in this historic city. This feat was achieved in 1954 at the Iffley Road track in Oxford. His time was 3mins 59.4 seconds. This is undoubtedly a place of learning with colleges wherever you look, behind great wooden gates, or open for visitors to view. It is a youthful place and a place that looks uncannily memorable due to the television series “Morse”. Whatever you visit Oxford for, do enjoy just standing and looking around you. Each view is a picture postcard for you to remember of your time amongst the “dreaming spires”.
