It was here, beside the water that the first cup of tea was drunk. Catherine Braganza, whilst waiting for Charles II her betrothed to arrive, sat down on the quay and ordered a cup of tea. As the statue of Nelson looks out to sea looking every inch the nation’s hero, we can almost hear the pilgrims nervous chatter as they leave for shores unknown and the arrivals who take a long look at this Historic Port of England.
